Organization Information

The Vilappil Grama Panchayat was formed in 1953. Its first president was K. Bhaskara Pillai.

Vilappil Grama Panchayat is located in the Kattakada Taluk in the Vilappil Village area of Thiruvananthapuram District. It falls under the Nemom Assembly Constituency, and its corresponding Parliamentary Constituency is Thiruvananthapuram.

The commercial and transport importance of the Vilappil village increased when a bridge was constructed, connecting its western part, Kundamonbhagam, to Thiruvananthapuram city during the reign of Sree Moolam Thirunal Maharaja.

The panchayat is home to Peninsular Polymers (Penpol), which is the second-largest institution in Asia for exporting blood bags.

The Govt. Vilappil L.P.S. (Lower Primary School) is 150 years old. The Vilappil Vidyaprabodhini Gramina Grandhashala (Rural Library) was established in 1935.
